A TRIP TO GAMESTOP
(a play in one act)

CAST:

NICK: A twenty-something med school kid who wants a video game
GAMESTOP GIRL: A thirty-something woman who knows nothing about said video game.

ACT 1

GAMESTOP, INTERIOR - NICK walks through the front door. A lonely bell rings once. NICK heads over to a section of video games, marked "NINTENDO DS".

GAMESTOP GIRL walks over to him.

GAMESTOP GIRL: Hi, welcome to GameStop! How can I help you today?

NICK smiles warmly at the woman, and shakes his head slightly.

NICK: Ah, no thanks. I'm just looking around.

GAMESTOP GIRL stares intently, visibly confused by the sentence spoken to her. She doesn't move, or blink.

GAMESTOP GIRL: Are you SURE that I can't help you with anything today?

GAMESTOP GIRL continues to stare uncomfortably, visibly unshaken by NICK's previous remarks.

NICK (hesitantly): I... um... well... I guess I'm looking for... uh... Final Fantasy: 4 Heroes of Light?

GAMESTOP GIRL continues to stare.

GAMESTOP GIRL (after a long pause): Oh, um, hmm. I... uh...

GAMESTOP GIRL glares over at her partner at the counter, hoping for him to translate NICK's words into English, perhaps.

NICK: Never mind, here it is. Thanks.

GAMESTOP GIRL doesn't move, and continues to stare awkwardly.

GAMESTOP GIRL: Well, is there anything ELSE I can help you with?

FIN.

SERIOUSLY.
