New comic up, concerning animals.

I just bought SimCity at the insistence of a friend. I've had something of an on-again-off-again love affair with SimCity games over the years, and I was looking forward to micro-managing a city again! That was some serious fun times.

I wish I could write about how amazing the game is, but I still am unable to log in. Y'see, SimCity is ONLINE ONLY, through EA's Origin service. Now, normally, I think everyone tends to pile on EA more than they actually deserve - sure, they have some shady business practices, but honestly that's kind of the rule nowadays, sadly.

In any case, the launch has been a miserable failure, to the point of witch Kotaku has started their own "SimCity Disaster Watch" series of articles, which would be rather hilarious if I didn't feel like I was being screwed so hard by EA.

But honestly, I really feel kind of offended. Offended to the point of which I'll really hesitate before jumping into another EA game in the future.

EA has always been shady. This SimCity launch failure is disappointing, but not entirely surprising. Online Only has got to be one of the worst ideas for the games that I've ever heard.

I will say this, though (switching gears kinda, but not really). I've seen gameplay videos and read reviews of the new Tomb Raider game. The series was never my cup of tea before; the marketing seemed to be centered around "COME LOOK AT LARA'S CHEST" over "Come check out our awesome game!" This game, however, looks very polished, fun, and graphically gorgeous. It might be worth a look...but then, BioShock Infinite is coming out soon.

My poor, poor wallet...
