I had a REALLY awesome looking moonset in the fifth panel, but you can't really see it because of the wall of text. I should have planned that better.

Also, this episode introduces the 34th incarnation of the UPSA rankings. Steele is First Lieutenant, and Keyes is of course Captain. The Codex will have more on the ranks eventually when I can get it up and going.

Bit of Praise: You are right, the backgrounds look very stunning. You are really nailing depth and feel with different effects and hues.

Bit of Critique: I suggest you use a ruler more often when drawing some lines, such as the walls and squares (i.e. Panel 6)

Really looks great. Especially shading in panel 5.

Jussy is correct, you might wanna invest in a ruler. He is also correct that the backgrounds stupefy the eyes and draw the viewer into a state of total .Gem-ness.

I really love that first frame. I want it as a wallpaper.

Okay, so more to say.

Na-Siik is awesome. He's clearly a loner with leader capabilities that he has probably demonstrated and will demonstrate again. As a character, his physical appearance contains a certain uniqueness and fierceness. He appears to resemble many mythical and fictional characters will resembling none of them.

I also really like the way Alda looks. I feel almost as if his visual representation has morphed into something different, something noticeable characterized by his demeanor (and maybe his clothes/colors? not sure).

Also, in the 3rd frame, the way Sage's hairline shadows and frames her face evokes nearly-exquisite lighting, almost as if in preparation for a descent into darkness.

A criticism has already been leveled - straight edges are your friend - and as in the last, I predict that you will respond with burgeoning physical creativity and storytelling.

Nicely done.

what do you mean that Alda's demeanor is "different"? how would you describe it?

He still has some of the comedic element, but he comes across as even more confident. I don't have a good idea why, but he 'feels' more like a captain now. He used to feel like the leader of a group, but now he's really pulling the 'captain' aura.

I dunno. It could be the story, it could be the art, it could be the way you draw it. It just 'feels' different to me.
